"A world like this"

"A World Like This" is a highly personal, biographical single by Swedish singer and actor Omar Rudberg, released on May 29, 2026, through TEN Records.

Serving as the first official release of the year for him, the pop ballad acts as track number 12 and the very first teaser for his upcoming studio album.

Inspiration and Lyrics

The song was co-written and produced alongside his longtime friend and collaborator Karl Ivert. Omar described the tracking process as a rare moment where he had the luxury of time to fully open up and share his life story without filters.

The lyrics of "A World Like This" touch deeply on his childhood and personal identity:

  • Childhood Move: He sings about being born in Venezuela and moving to Sweden with his mother.
  • Language Barriers: He reflects on losing his native language while helping his mother write emails in Swedish when neither of them spoke it yet.
  • Belonging: The emotional core explores the feeling of isolation—being caught between cultures, being called a "gringo" while identifying as Latino, and wondering how he is supposed to fit into the world.

Reception & Content

The song achieved immediate success, gathering over 15,000 downloads within its first 24 hours of release. To accompany the drop, a special nostalgic lyric video was shared across social platforms, featuring clips and photos of Omar growing up.

"A World Like This" Lyrics

I was born in Venezuela, I was a happy kidBut then my mother and I moved to another countryShe got a man, she did it all for meSo I helped my mother to write her emails in SwedishShe didn't speak it, neither did ILost my mother language, was called a gringoWhile I'm Latino, but sometimes I'm not

I just really wanna say it, but it's hard to tell youWho I am, what do I like, what do I do well, yeahAm I even looking for an answer?

How am I supposed to fit into a world like this? NoI ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, noI ain't got nowhere to run or hideWhy should I? How could I?I ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, no

From warm beaches to cold onesI was the brown oneOnly a few ones wanted to playThe rest didn't like me, my look or singingThank me for dreamin' 'cause I never stopped (stopped, stopped)

I just really wanna say it, but it's hard to tell you (it's hard to tell ya)Who I am, what do I like, what do I do well, yeahAm I even looking for an answer?

How am I supposed to fit into a world like this? NoI ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, noI ain't got nowhere to run or hideWhy should I? (Why should I?) How could I? (How could I?)I ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, no(How am I supposed to fit into a world?)(In a world, no, I can't, no, I won't)How am I supposed to fit into a world like this?
