Aftonbladet interview with Omar Rudberg

Omar Rudberg pauses acting - focuses on music
Playing at Way out west: "Would have liked to close the whole thing"

Omar Rudberg has put acting on hiatus and is now focusing entirely on music.

On Saturday he will play for the first time at Way out west.

– It's clear they would have wanted to close the whole thing, he says.

Omar Rudberg, 26, is pumped and focused for Saturday's gig at Way Out West. – It feels a little surreal. It's a very big and honorable thing to play here, it's a very cool and big festival. I just feel like it's crazy to be a small part of it. Before the gig, Omar Rudberg promised a lot of energy, singing, dancing, joy – and an unreleased song. This year he has been working on a lot of new music and promises both more songs and gigs in the future.

He is one of the first artists to perform when he takes the stage at 2:30 p.m.

– Of course they would have liked to close the whole thing, but this is my first time so I'm just so happy to have a little castle. You never know, next time it might be an even better time. It's not often you get to drive on Way out west so I'm just happy.

Omar Rudberg takes a break from acting

Omar Rudberg was a member of the boy band FO&O , which quickly gained a large fan base when they broke through in 2013. Since 2017, he has focused on his solo career as an artist, but has also had great success as an actor. Through his role as Simon in Netflix's "Young Royals," he got a major international breakthrough and now has fans from all over the world.

What does it mean to you that fans come here to see you?

– They do the shows. I have fans who come to all the gigs and who travel from the other side of the world. Without them it wouldn't be the same, and it's so crazy that they can do it. I'm so happy and grateful.

Anyone hoping to see Omar Rudberg in a new role, however, will have to hold on, because there won't be any more acting for a while.

– Right now? No. Right now I'm trying to finish an album, and there will be more touring. But we'll see. I'm very open to film and I love acting. So I really hope I get to do that in the future.

As a solo artist, Omar Rudberg has participated in Melodifestivalen twice and in 2023 he participated in "Så mycket bättre". Last year he won two Rockbjörns in the categories "Grönan Live Act of the Year" and "Swedish Song of the Year".
