2024 was a transformative year for Omar Rudberg, marking the conclusion of his breakout acting role and a major leap in his global music career.

 

Acting: The End of Young Royals

The third and final season of the global hit Netflix series Young Royals premiered in March 2024.

  • Release Dates: The first five episodes dropped on March 11, followed by the series finale on March 18.
  • Documentary: Netflix also released a special behind-the-scenes documentary, Young Royals Forever, alongside the finale.
  • Awards & Recognition: Omar continued to be celebrated as an LGBTQ+ icon, being named one of Queerty’s Pride50 honorees in May.

 

Music: Every Night Fantasy Era

Following the end of the series, Omar shifted his primary focus to music, signing a global deal with Elektra Records (Atlantic Records) to distribute his music outside of the Nordics.

  • EP Release: On October 18, 2024, he released his debut EP, Every Night Fantasy, featuring a mix of 80s-inspired pop and modern R&B.
  • Singles: Major 2024 releases included the lead single "Red Light" (released in May) and high-energy tracks like "Bye Bye".
  • Rockbjörnen Win: He won the Grönan Live Act award at the 2024 Rockbjörnen awards in September.

 

Touring & Live Performances

Omar performed a record number of live shows in 2024, transitioning from Swedish venues to international stages.

  • Solo Milestone: On February 17, he performed his first major solo headline concert at a sold-out Cirkus in Stockholm for 1,600 fans from over 40 countries.
  • Summer Festivals: He performed at iconic Swedish venues including Gröna Lund (June 1) and Allsång på Skansen (July 2).
  • Fall Tour: In late 2024, he embarked on his first international tour across Europe and the USA, including sold-out dates in London (Heaven), Paris, New York (Music Hall of Williamsburg), and Los Angeles (El Rey Theatre).

 

Fashion & Media

  • Oscars Debut: In March 2024, Omar made his first appearance at the 96th Academy Awards, gaining international attention for his bold red-carpet fashion statement.
  • High-End Editorial: He was featured in numerous major publications throughout the year, including Vogue Scandinavia, Teen Vogue, and GQ, solidifying his status as a "pop prince".
