✨ Short summary

“A World Like This” is a deeply personal and autobiographical song in which Omar reflects on his childhood, his Venezuelan roots, moving to Sweden with his mother, growing up between different cultures, and questioning where he belongs.

The song explores identity, belonging, immigration, childhood experiences and self-acceptance. Omar talks openly about losing his mother language, being called a “gringo” despite being Latino, and wondering how he is supposed to fit into the world around him.

Omar said that he wanted the song to open himself up more and allow people to get to know who he really is. He described it as the first glimpse of where his new music is heading.

It also marks the beginning of a new musical chapter leading toward his second studio album.

💿 Connection to the upcoming album

There was also a really unusual pre-release moment: Omar shared a demo exclusively through Discord, and fans downloaded it more than 15,000 times in less than 24 hours.

A world like this | Lyrics

I was born in Venezuela, I was a happy kidBut then my mother and I moved to another countryShe got a man, she did it all for meSo I helped my mother to write her emails in SwedishShe didn't speak it, neither did ILost my mother language, was called a gringoWhile I'm Latino, but sometimes I'm not

I just really wanna say it, but it's hard to tell youWho I am, what do I like, what do I do well, yeahAm I even looking for an answer?

How am I supposed to fit into a world like this? NoI ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, noI ain't got nowhere to run or hideWhy should I? How could I?I ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, no

From warm beaches to cold onesI was the brown oneOnly a few ones wanted to playThe rest didn't like me, my look or singingThank me for dreamin' 'cause I never stopped (stopped, stopped)

I just really wanna say it, but it's hard to tell you (it's hard to tell ya)Who I am, what do I like, what do I do well, yeahAm I even looking for an answer?

How am I supposed to fit into a world like this? NoI ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, noI ain't got nowhere to run or hideWhy should I? (Why should I?) How could I? (How could I?)I ain't never wanna fit into a world like this, no(How am I supposed to fit into a world?)(In a world, no, I can't, no, I won't)How am I supposed to fit into a world like this?
